Psalms 59:15-62:9

Synopsis     Psalms 59:15-62:9     10/29/2021

King David often reflected on the circumstances of his life. Whe he did, he recognized patterns in his relationship with God. So, he saw moving in both victory and defeat in battle. And he recognized that God was with him in times of danger. And through it all, trusted in God alone.

In a more specific way, he recognized that people who live according to the rule of this world, actually hate God. Though they often did not seem like God’s enemies, he recognized that they were caught up in their own selfishness. As a result, they perceived God and other people as encumbrances between them and what they wanted.

King David’s Trust

David contrasted double mindedness with fidelity. In this way, he pointed out the disintegration of someone who “blesses with their mouths but inwardly…curse”. Such people attempt to live a lie.

But David rested in God. And he commanded his people, “Trust God at all times, my people!”

Trust

To walk in the way of trust, as David did, results in evidence. When I trust God for everything, the testimony of my actions is that God is trustworthy.

Now God is love. So, He loves me and you. It follows that He works all things together in a way to shape and mold each of us for eternity – if we cooperate.

“I have seen the business that God has given to mortals to be busied about. God has made everything appropriate to its time, but has put the timeless* into their hearts so they cannot find out, from beginning to end, the work which God has done.” Eccl 3:10-11
