Good news: Our institute has been approved by the National Science Foundation for Outstanding Young Scholars for three consecutive years

Recently, the National Natural Science Foundation of China officially announced the list of projects approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2024. The project "Discrete Complex Analysis and Circle Accumulation Theory" applied by Professor Zhou Ze of our school has been approved by the National Outstanding Youth Fund project, which is the third consecutive year that our school has been approved for this project funding after the previous two years, they are Professor Hu Yaohua (approved by the National Outstanding Youth Fund in 2022), Professor Gao Yan (approved by the National Outstanding Youth Fund in 2023), and Professor Zhou Ze (approved by the National Outstanding Youth Fund in 2024). This marks that our institute has achieved phased results in the cultivation of young scientific research talents and the ability of scientific research and innovation, and has injected strong impetus into the vigorous development of the scientific research of the college.

Professor Ze Zhou, whose research interests are complex analysis and circle stacking. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2015. Since October 2022, he has been a professor at Shenzhen University. His main contribution is to introduce tools such as Teichmullerl theory and differential topology method into the study of circle stacking theory, and solve some open problems raised by Schutle, Chow-Luo et al., and his results are published in Invent. Math., Amer. J. Math., Adv. Math and other internationally renowned mathematics journals. He has won the Zhong Jiaqing Mathematics Award and the Outstanding Contribution Award of China's Emerging Figures. The approved National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars will focus on cutting-edge issues, aiming to overcome a number of key core technologies and produce scientific research results with international influence through interdisciplinary and multi-field collaborative innovation. Prof. Ze Zhou, the project leader, said: "Thanks to the strong support of the school, we will take this project as an opportunity to further unite the team, deepen scientific research cooperation, strive to make more breakthroughs in basic mathematics scientific research, and contribute wisdom and strength to scientific and technological progress."

As an important part of China's high-level talent support program, the National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars aims to accelerate the cultivation of a group of outstanding young academic leaders who have entered the world's scientific and technological frontiers.
